Kristina Oja

Kristina Oja is both her name and a space where yarn becomes an idea, a garment, and a form of experimentation. She is a textile and knitwear designer based in Estonia, whose work focuses on knitwear, textiles, and slow fashion. Her creations are characterized by poetic sensitivity and a deep respect for materials. Machine knitting has become one of Kristina’s strongest means of expression. She discovered this skill during her studies and has continued to develop it through independent research, experimentation, and intuition.

She often works with existing materials – yarn remnants, knitting samples, wool, and fabric scraps – giving them new life. Kristina uses sustainable and recycled materials that would otherwise go unnoticed, unlocking their potential to become unique garments. As a designer, she sees herself as a listener and guide for materials, allowing them to lead the creative process. In 2024, Kristina Oja was named Young Textile Designer of the Year and also received the Mari Adamson Scholarship, awarded to the best textile student in Estonia.
