International projects

Tallinn Design House participates in various international projects aimed at supporting business growth and the transition to a circular economy.

Baltic2Hand

The Baltic2Hand project focuses on promoting textile reuse and reducing textile waste by supporting textile companies in developing innovative and sustainable business models. Through the project, comprehensive analyses and practical solutions have been developed to help these companies better adapt to circular economy requirements and increase the circulation of used garments.

One example highlighted in the project is Tallinn Design House’s PRE-Loved initiative, which emphasizes the value of local design and promotes environmentally friendly consumption. PRE-Loved provides people with the opportunity to purchase high-quality second-hand designer items, significantly reducing textile waste and extending product lifecycles.

Additionally, the project produced a detailed overview of the circular economy and textile waste situation in Finland, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia, addressing sector challenges and opportunities, with Tallinn Design House’s initiative showcased as a prime example of circular economy principles in action. The project runs from 01.04.2023 to 01.04.2026 and includes partners from Finland, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia – alongside the Tallinn Business Incubator, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sustainability InnoCenter, and Turku University of Applied Sciences. The project is co-financed by the Interreg Central Baltic program.

Time for (S)heroes

Under the “In Time for (S)heroes” project, Tallinn Business Incubator is responsible for organizing an incubation program to help participants transform initial ideas into effective business models. The project also includes an exhibition in Estonia.

The incubation program covers essential topics, such as internationalization, commercialization, brand management, technology and art transfer, production, and global marketing. This innovation-driven approach aims to develop the participants’ entrepreneurial potential.

Since its founding in 2006, Tallinn Business Incubator has supported the growth of over 500 Estonian creative enterprises, promoting the local design market and raising international awareness of Estonian products. Designers in the program share their entrepreneurial journeys, while participants benefit from workshops, joint visits, and a strong network that fosters growth and innovation in the creative industries.

Within the project, the Business Incubator collaborates closely with Tallinn Design House, Estonia’s joint marketing and export platform for design, leveraging shared resources and expertise to enhance Estonian designer brands and promote local talent. The combined marketing channels of the Incubator and Tallinn Design House are used to boost visibility and engagement. The Tallinn Design House team contributes their skills and knowledge to the success of participating companies and the project.

The project is co-financed by the Creative Europe program and runs from 01.10.2024 to 30.09.2028.
